Overview

The role of the Reading Intervention Specialist is to provide intensive academic instruction and intervention to students in literacy. The Reading Intervention Specialist will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to maintain the academic, social and emotional needs of each student, which are aligned with the Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and the Treatment Plans.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all paperwork requirements for each client in accordance with agency documentation requirements.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate and understanding and application of functional analysis and behavioral interventions for each client and family. 
  • Create, monitor, and revise each client's Individualized Education Plan.
  • Supervise Teaching Associates, as assigned
  • Collaborate with Educational Director in planning professional development around literacy and mentor other teachers and staff in best literacy practices.
  • Select and lead the implementation of ELA curriculum materials.
  • Teach ELA remediation groups and other academic groups as assigned.
  • Develop school wide practices to connect with caregivers and provide education about promoting literacy at home.
  • Train teams on internal working model and functional analysis of each client.

 

Qualifications

  • Current California Specialist Credential (Mild or Moderate) or currently enrolled in a credential program.
  • MA in Reading or a related field or equivalent literacy experience preferred.
  • Valid California Driver's License and ability to be insured by Seneca's insurance carrier.
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other state or federal requirements.
