Overview

Kinship Center, a member of Seneca Family of Agencies, is seeking contracted Relief Counselors for our Family Ties program. Family Ties helps children remain connected to their families by keeping them with relatives, while supporting the kin caregivers to meet the child's health, financial, social, and emotional needs. The Family Ties recreation program provides these youth with exposure to a variety of recreational activities, allowing them to participate in physical activities, and giving them the opportunity to interact with peers in similar situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervision of the children, maintaining emotional and physical safety of clients at all times
  • Attend, participate, and help organize various recreational and educational activities for family events and support groups
  • Set up recreation space and clean up after each session
  • Maintain positive relationships with children and families, creating a welcoming and supportive environment
  • Assist with tasks to keep the program running smoothly, such as washing dishes and setting up chairs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or senior-level standing in a Bachelor's level program
  • Background in child development and/or special needs helpful
  • Commitment and competence with kin caregivers and their kin dependents
  • Sensitivity to the cultural diversity of clients and employees
  • Clearance of TB test, physical exam, fingerprints and any other mandatory State/Federal requirements
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability under Seneca's automobile policy

Schedule

  • 4-12 hours per month, possible additional hours TBA

Benefits

  • $16/hour without a Bachelor's degree, $17/hour with a Bachelor's degree
