Overview

The Grant Writer is a proactive, self-motivated project leader who is passionate about creating innovative programs to serve youth and families. This position collaborates with the Seneca’s executive leadership and Development and Strategic Engagement (DaSE) team to influence organizational growth and change by researching funding opportunities and developing proposals. The ideal candidate is an advanced writer with a proven track record of grant success and is interested in impacting the lives of children and families on an organizational and systems level. The Grant Writer directly supports the development and sustainability of Seneca’s programs.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and develop proposals that describe innovative and effective programs to improve the lives of youth and families. 
  • Develop written proposals for a variety of agency funders, including: private foundations and some government contracts (only when needed). All proposals accurately articulate Seneca’s vision, values, treatment philosophy, and clinical practice model, while adhering to the funder requirements.
  • Hold responsibility for the grant writing, approval and reporting process.
  • Design and develop project budgets that are fiscally viable and technically accurate.
  • Identify funding opportunities that align with Seneca’s strategic plan and funding priorities.
  • Oversee the successful completion of projects, including effectively managing workflow.
  • Participate in and lead collaborative meetings with DaSE team around foundation prospecting.
  • Represent Seneca in external meetings, including Bidder's Conferences. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Writing or related field preferred
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience with creating budgets for program development, grant writing and program evaluation, and writing reports, proposals, and evaluations, preferably in a mental health and/or school setting
  • Experience and knowledge of children's service programs
  • Valid California driver's license and insurability through Seneca's automobile policy
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
