    Under the supervision of a Psychiatrist, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, evaluating and treating clients on their caseload.  Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner is also responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide assessment, treatment planning, and evaluation of the client’s care within designated clinical areas.  They are responsible for meeting all regulatory documentation standards and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team with the assigned therapist and ancillary providers.  They act as a clinical role model, provide nursing consultation to staff, and provide psychiatry services under physician supervision.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for quality clinical care of clients, providing medication support services for a caseload of approximately 60 clients across two program sites.
    • Evaluates own practice and maintains consistent standards of care.
    • Collects and analyzes assessment data to formulate client care problems, individualized outcomes, plans, implements and evaluates nursing interventions.
    • Provides all care required to be given by a RN/NP for assigned programs/shifts.
    • Meets all regulatory and facility documentation standards.
    • Protects the dignity and rights of clients and provides culturally competent standards.
    • Provides leadership and mentoring of Nurses.
    • Provide trainings to staff members, family members and Nursing team.
    • Collaborate with psychiatrist and staff nurse to ensure clients are medically stable for treatment and coordinate PCP follow-up when necessary.
    • Collaborates with Psychiatrist/Medical Director/Consulting Nursing Director to ensure quality of prescriptive practices, diagnostic practices, medication administration, adequate consents, medical treatment and follow-up.
    • Collaborates with Clinical Manager to ensure health and safety, infection control, resource utilization, and clinical and rehabilitative standards of care.
    • Participates in Health Services department meetings, on-site staff meetings and other facility activities.
    • Fosters professional development of staff.
    • Provides case management to clients between sessions to monitor medication compliance and side effects.

     

    Qualifications

    • BS or BA
    • CPR – BLS
    • Must be able to work with youth ages 5 - 20
    • Valid California Registered Nurse License
    • Valid California Nurse Practitioner License
    • Valid California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number
    • Good communication, organization and leadership skills
    • Psychiatric Nursing experience preferred
    • Valid driver’s license, clean record, and insurability through Seneca’s automobile policy
    • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearances and any other State/Federal licensing or certification requirements.
