  • Overview

    The Bilingual Outpatient Therapist provides individual, family and group therapy, case management, and consultation services with a predominately Spanish speaking case-load on a public-school campus in Oakland Unified School District. The Bilingual Outpatient Therapist works in collaboration with the public-school employees to provide mental health and educational services to support students’ success.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide individual and family therapy services to each client in Spanish as needed or as preferred by student and family
    • Occasional informal site translation and interpretation between Spanish-English as needed.
    • Provide group therapy services.
    • Collaborate and consult with school staff to support clients’ needs in the school based setting.
    • Provide case management services including home visits and outside referrals as needed.
    • Complete all required clinical documentation for each student as outlined in the paperwork guidelines including assessment, diagnosis, risk assessment/safety plan, treatment plan, discharge, and all necessary county Medi-Cal documents, including mental health notes.
    • Participate in all school based meetings, such as SSTs, COST or other treatment meetings related to clients as needed.
    • Attend ongoing meetings including; supervision, program staff meetings and all required in-service meetings.
    • Perform all other duties as necessary for the good of the agency as requested by supervisor.

     

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology; license eligible
    • Near native oral fluency of Spanish and English
    • Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
    • Pay differential upon passage of Language Competency Assessment
    • Awareness, knowledge and understanding of the impact of privilege and oppression on marginalized groups and communities
    • Knowledge in Mental Health Billing preferred.
    • Ability to work as a team member and contribute to program development.
    • Ability and willingness to maintain clear and complete records, meet deadlines for written reports, and compile and report monthly statistics.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Solid computer skills in Microsoft Office.
    • Experience working with diverse students and families.
    • Valid California Driver’s License and insurability by Seneca’s automobile insurance carrier.
    • Fulfillment of TB Test, fingerprinting, state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.

    • Monday-Friday
