  • Overview

    The Floater Health Information Specialist maintains client files and is responsible for submitting the mental health billing for all clients within their assigned program. Health Information Specialists compile, update, and organize all documentation for the clients within their program, in collaboration with clinicians and counselors. This is an administrative role that requires a high level of analytical, computer, and communication skills. Seneca is committed to hiring and maintaining a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse workforce that is reflective of the local client or student community. 


    • Maintain client charts according to HIPAA and Seneca regulations.
    • Monitor Medi-Cal documentation. Track required paperwork to ensure that it has been completed and received according to established programmatic, county, and state guidelines.
    • Conduct Quality Assurance Review of all clinical documentation as well as other required paperwork.
    • Cover telephones as needed.
    • Distribute required information to various agencies.
    • Responsible for all Billing Information System entries.
    • Dismantle charts completely upon client discharge and prepare charts for storage. 
    • Act as liaison with various agencies including but not limited to, educational representatives, mental health, and other county representatives.


    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • At least 21 years of age
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, computer and communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize projects
    • Valid California driver’s license and insurability through Seneca’s automobile policy
    • Clear TB test, health screening, criminal background check, and any other mandatory State or Federal licensing and certification requirements


    • Monday through Friday, 9am - 5:30pm
    • This position will provide coverage for programs in Oakland, San Jose, and Contra Costa County.
