    Seneca has spent the past thirty years building its reputation as an innovative, effective, and ever-evolving leader in child and family mental health services. To support this, we rely on a collaborative and driven team of contracted translators. We are looking for someone with strong attention to detail and initiative to support our mission to serve children and families.

     

    The Contracted (Spanish/English) Translator is responsible for translating documents from the source language into the target language. The goal is to for translated documents to read as though they were originally written in the target language. Translation projects range from program brochures and training materials to clinical documents regarding the mental health treatment and education of Seneca clients and their families. 

    Responsibilities

    • Accurately translate documents from the source language to the target language
    • Effectively convey the style, tone and original meaning of the source document
    • Properly transmit any cultural references, including slang and other expressions that do not have literal equivalents
    • Manage work schedules to meet deadlines and submit assignments electronically and in a timely manner
    • Utilize our internal glossary and terminology database during translations
    • Communicate efficiently with other team members to complete the translation and review process

    Qualifications

    • Must reside in California
    • Master’s degree in Translation
    • Translation experience required
    • Excellent writing and comprehension skills in both English and Spanish, as well as a mastery of grammar and punctuation of both languages
    • Exceptional editing and proofreading skills
    • Proficient in MemoQ software interface
    • American Translators Association Certified preferred
    • Previous work experience in either the translation industry or the Mental Health Field are plusses!
    • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
