Overview

Seneca is hiring a Student Support Assistant (SSA) to provide instructional, therapeutic, and behavioral support students at Caliber Public Schools for grades K-8 for the 2023-24 school year. Our SSAs provide a positive learning environment for students through behavior management, behavior modification, coaching, training, and skill building techniques. As an SSA, you'll also provides community and in-home support as an adjunct to the work being done in the school.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct behavioral intervention/modification for students that decreases engagement in disruptive, harmful or negative behaviors and increases engagement in positive replacement behaviors
  • Provide crisis management and intervention for students, including but not limited to: risk assessment, crisis counseling, creation of behavioral plans, and physical management 
  • Lead small groups of students in activities to enhance their academic, behavioral, and interpersonal and social skills 
  • Assist in monitoring students’ progress toward their goals through formal documentation methods 
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure all identified students get the support they need to achieve academic and personal success at school
  • Coordinate and collaborate with parents, classroom teachers and other providers in order to transfer skills and build capacity
  • Participate in weekly individual supervision and group supervision to expand skills and receive ongoing coaching and support
  • Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca's mission and philosophy
  • Light case management tasks related to treatment plan goals of open clients

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree OR 
    • Associate degree and one year of relevant experience OR 
    • High school diploma and two years of relevant experience 
  • Experience working with youth in a mental health or classroom-facing setting 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid California Driver's License 
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM
    • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and additional paid school break days

  • Starting at $22.66-$25.16 per hour, with actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
