The Visitation Counselor is responsible for documentation of visits, role modeling, coaching, and verbal communication to ensure a safe and successful visit. As the Visitation Counselor on the team, your supervision will consist of the oversight of interactions between parent and children and transportation to and from visits.

 

ABOUT FIRST STOP VISITATION CENTER

The First Stop Visitation Center provides services to children and parents who are referred by San Francisco Department of Family and Children’s Services who are working toward reunification. The program hosts the visits on site and is designed to provide opportunities for parents to build parental capacity, strengthen family relationships, and increase successful reunification and permanency outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise parent-child visits, ensuring age-appropriate interactions and maintaining safety
  • Prepare reports based on visit observations and interventions
  • Keep Child Welfare informed of progress and challenges
  • Provide transportation for children and families as requested by Child Welfare or Visitation Manager
  • Orient families to the visitation program and procedures before initial visits
  • Maintain professional behavior, representing Seneca’s mission and philosophy
  • Assist with special events/projects to enhance visitation program operations

Qualifications

Required:

  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree OR
    • Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
    • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
    • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families, or working in the social services field
  • Own vehicle, valid California driver's license, and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Preferred:

  • 2-years of related experience working with families in foster care
  • Experience with handling crisis, intense situations, continuous change, or unexpected developments
  • Excellent critical-thinking, communication, and computer skills

Schedule

  • Full-time
    • Sun - Thu; 10am-6pm

  • Starting at $24.72 - $27.22 per hour, actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification
