Overview

Become a pivotal part of our team as a Therapist, where you'll guide children and families through transitions from institutional settings to nurturing family environments.

 

We are hiring a Therapist for our Trauma Counseling and Violence Prevention Program. As a Therapist, you will be involved in coordinating and delivering culturally responsive mental health services to youth transitioning from institutional settings to family or community environments.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with social services, probation, and mental health departments to ensure stability for the child and family. Service delivery includes individual and family therapy to youth at the juvenile justice center and their families, with an average caseload of 15-17. Your work aims to mitigate risk factors, strengthen protective factors, and support a smooth community re-entry for some youths.

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Trauma Counseling and Violence Prevention Program is an individual and family therapy program intended to serve youth who are remanded at the juvenile justice center and the families that they are connected to. The program is funded by the Sonoma County Juvenile Probation Department with the hopes that high quality therapeutic services may support in mitigating identified risk factors for youth and support the developing and strengthening of protective factors within families.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly meet with clients and caregivers on a regular basis to further treatment goals utilizing culturally informed and best practice modalities
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of care planning and support

  • Collaborate with agency staff, caregivers, other professionals and interested parties to formulate and implement individual client care plans, behavioral programs, and interventions

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members and providers, as needed

  • Complete assessment and evaluation process of clients in order to develop and implement the care plan

  • Provide assistance in case planning and consultation to team members on clinical issues, as well as casework issues, as appropriate

  • Chart mental health notes, care plans, outcome measures, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner

  • Maintain availability for crisis intervention services, such as on-call rotation, if applicable

  • Comply with all child abuse reporting and Medicaid/Medi-Cal requirements in accordance with standards set by Seneca

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client and business operations information

  • Commit to and engage in self-evaluation as well as organizational goals, strategies, and systemic practices regarding diversity, equity and inclusion

Qualifications

  • REQUIRED

    • Master’s degree in social work/psychology/counseling
      • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and enforcement of competent mental health practice standards
    • Good organizational and writing skills
    • At least 21 years of age
    • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
    • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
    • Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination 

    PREFERRED

    • Experience working with children in out-of-home care 
    • Experience working with youth and families with complex trauma
    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

    SKILLS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE

    • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Ability to work with a diverse population

Schedule

  • Full-time; Monday to Friday
  • 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Flexibility for evenings, mornings, and weekends as needed

Benefits

  • Starting at $71,080 - $85,080 per year
  • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
  • Additional $4000 salary increase for BBS licensure
  • Additional compensation provided upon passing bilingual language proficiency exam
