Overview

Seneca is looking for a School-Based Therapist to support a caseload of students at Denman Middle School in San Francisco, CA for ages 11 to 14. with therapy, case management, and consultation services. As a School-Based Therapist, you’ll provide therapeutic and case-management services, including conducting mental health assessments and implementing individual behavioral plans.

 

This is a non-MediCal position, so the paperwork will be minimal! You will have the opportunity to work with the school team and Seneca leadership to build a caseload and provide individual therapy, case management, family therapy. As part of our tiered UE model, you will also provide social skills groups to students with emerging social-emotional needs. You may also support with classroom circles, social-emotional learning, risk assessments, etc. The only travel will be three meetings per month at our office in the Outer Mission (Farallones). As this is a full embedded position, there will be very limited travel.

Responsibilities

  • Work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team with teachers, counselors, other specialists/educational staff, and program leadership
  • Provide interventions including therapy (individual, group, family) and case management for identified students based on school-based referrals, individualized clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Engage caregivers in the treatment process, providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs
  • Provide crisis intervention, including risk screening, assessment, triage, and service linkage
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training
    • This may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management of the clients, if applicable. Training in additional crisis intervention modalities may be required
  • Provide consultation to other school staff on safety assessments, mental health crises, accessing social service, and in utilizing healing centered techniques to experience success with all students
  • Contribute to a strong school culture by participating in or leading small group, classroom or school-wide activities for students that celebrate success and promote joy
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation for plan development and to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, professional clinical counseling, or psychology
    • Eligible to register with the California BBS
  • Experience working with youth in a mental health or education setting is strongly preferred
  • TB test clearance, fingerprints, and COVID-19 vaccination
  • Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency a plus

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4:30 PM
    • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

Benefits

  • Starting at $74,150-  $88,150 per year, with actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
