ABOUT THE ROLE

Seneca’s School Partnership Programs is hiring for a Behavior Support Specialist to guide grades K-8 to success at Montalvin Elementary School in San Pablo, CA.  As a Behavior Support Specialist you will work collaboratively with a dedicated team to provide a holistic, humanizing, and empowering learning environment for students. In addition, you will be responsible for administering intensive intervention programs to identified students and have the opportunity to coach, model, and develop opportunities for school staff! This role is hiring for the 2025-2026 school year!

 

ABOUT THE UE WEST COAST CONNECTIONS PROGRAM

Seneca’s Unconditional Education West Coast Connections Program partners with 10 schools across Contra Costa County to provide students and families with services based on Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Our staff implement strategies that range from creating, implementing and monitoring trauma-informed school wide systems that benefit all students, to individualized therapy and targeted behavioral support for students with the highest levels of need. Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, including teachers, counselors, specialists, and program leadership
  • Build therapeutic relationships that help students engage and achieve personalized goals
  • Support the assessment, planning, and implementation of specialized student plans, including individualized education plans (IEP), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and 504 plans
  • Plan, lead and coach student group activities for academics, social skills, and recreation
  • Support Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) through individual, classroom, and schoolwide coaching and training
  • Provide direct coaching for teachers and support staff to build skills and increase behavioral intervention capacity
  • Deliver direct behavioral intervention that reduces behaviors impeding school success and promotes positive behaviors for learning and community participation
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing
  • Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the students' daily life, including other Seneca programs or external agencies
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training
    • This may include intervening with the students’ behavioral program through physical management

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of applicable experience OR
    • Associate degree + 3 year of applicable experience OR
    • High school diploma/GED + 4 years of applicable experience
    • Applicable experience is defined as experience working with children who exhibit extremely challenging behaviors
  • Reliable transportation to and from the school site and other occasional meeting locations
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 8 AM - 4:30 PM 
    • 2 times a month travel to Oakland for group supervision
    • This role is starting during the 2025-2026 school year!
  • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

    • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
