Seneca’s James Baldwin Academy is hiring a Classroom Counselor to guide grades 5-12 students to success no matter what challenges they may be facing. Our Classroom Counselors collaborate with Special Education Teachers, School Therapists, and Education Leaders to foster classrooms where students’ therapeutic, behavioral, and academic needs are met. Seneca’sJames Baldwin Academyserves 50 students in grades 5-12, providing special education services to students with a variety of mental health needs. In five small classrooms, they provide individualized attention and direct instruction in core areas to help students make adequate yearly progress on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals while adhering to a general education standards-based curriculum. The Support Counselor serves children and families by providing behaviorally focused mental health services. Counselors work with youth in their environments: assisting birth/foster parents with care and supervision, maintaining a close and supportive relationship with the child’s educational placement, planning activities that encourage social development, and supporting the youth in getting access to community resources. The Support Counselor is a member of a treatment team that seeks to provide families with strengths-based, family-focused support.
ABOUT WRAPAROUND
Seneca offers intensive "Wraparound" services to children and youth at risk of placement in a high-level group home, and to their families. The Wraparound programs are strengths-based, family-driven, flexible, and creative, with the goal of helping the family develop the skills and supports to prevent or reduce the possibility of residential placement of their child. A family-based team addresses the needs of the entire family, not just the at-risk child. This family-based team consists of family members, Seneca's Care Coordinators, Family Assistants, Family Partners, and other community members who have an important role in the family,

Our Classroom Counselors collaborate with special education teachers, school therapists, and education leaders to foster classrooms where students’ therapeutic, behavioral, and academic needs are met. As a Classroom Counselor, you’ll support students’ mental health needs, provide therapeutic interventions, and foster academic curiosity.
